Since the start of Term 2, the OLA and the School have been keeping in touch with our school community, and particularly with our alumnae, to let them know how the students and teachers are working through these challenging times, and to share students’ work, performances and projects. We have received lots of feedback that these communications have been truly appreciated. We have just completed a new project, which involved our current students engaging remotely with some of our older alumnae, to bring to them a bit of cheer during this second lockdown. This time, we asked the girls in Year 2 to be involved by writing a letter to a Lauriston Old Girl. The students wrote these letters at school under the guidance of their teacher. After finishing the letters, we posted each letter to the Old Girls, together with a note from us and a recipe for fabulous biscuits from the Lauriston Kitchens cookbook. The recipe comes from one of our very first students, Mary Lowe, who went on to teach music at the School. Mary’s great granddaughter, Zoe, is currently in Year 8 at Lauriston. |
